Race Equality
Welcome to the Greater Manchester Learning Partnership and Greater Manchester Combined Authority support for schools and colleges around achieving Race Equality
Our work in this area began in 2021 through the creation of the Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel – a Mayoral initiative to address inequalities across Greater Manchester.
Over the past four years, a group of school and Trust leaders came together to develop the GM Race Equality Framework for education. They trialled and refined the framework and gave up their time freely to build what we present here.
All the Pathfinder schools who volunteered their time and effort know that there is no quick ‘fix’ to achieving race equality but we hope that these free resources and contacts may help where you are in your journey. We know that inclusion is a process.
As our Mayor, Andy Burnham, states in his introduction to the framework:
Greater Manchester prides itself on the cohesion between our different communities and we’re always stronger together. By providing this real, lived-experience guidance, I hope that educators feel better equipped to bring about real positive change in their everyday relationships.
We do things differently here, and we hope that this will support you in your setting or locality to make the difference so that all our children feel they are connected, involved and understood.
